Daniel Arpels Snr is a member of the prestigious Van Cleef & Arpels family, famous for its luxury jewellery and perfume house. Having spent most of his younger life travelling, Daniel joined Northwood Publication, part of the Thompson Group in 1973 within its Sales Ledger department.
Having spent 4 years with the company and always having an interest in credit management, Daniel joined the Tern Shirts Group as Group Credit Manager in 1977. His time at Tern Shirts gave Daniel the opportunity to gain invaluable experience with credit management and to work with Richard Lawson & Peter Barden before moving onto Gabicci in 1982. A chance meeting between Daniel and then Gabicci Chairman Jack Soffier saw Daniel become credit manager of Gabicci, at the time only having a 2 million GBP turnover.
In 1984 Daniel became an M.I.C.M (Member of the Institute of Credit Management) and group credit manager of Gabicci after the successful acquisition of Gransden International Ltd from David Bendal. In 1985 Gabicci became Gabicci PLC before being acquired by the Helena Group PLC in 1993 taking the groups turnover to in excess of 350 Million GBP. At this time Daniel, as group credit manager, was responsible for brands including, Marc O Polo, Coconut Club and many more.
In 1985 Daniel founded and became Chairman of The Clothing Association (CLASS) and established over 250 leading clothing companies as members. For his contribution to the credit management & clothing industry, Daniel was awarded the F.I.C.M (Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management) in 1991 an achievement that Daniel is so very proud of. As part of CLASS, Daniel worked with many receivers and liquidators including Poppleton & Appleby and Taylor & Gothem. Many members of CLASS have since joined MCM as valued clients.
In 1997 Daniel joined D & A Consultancy Limited, now MCM Inc Limited, as Managing Director & shareholder. After the collapse of Helena PLC in 1998, Daniel was asked to collect the remaining bad debts for the receivers. Since this time Daniel has worked with the leading menswear fashion houses, stabilising cash-flow and increasing sales turnovers using his unique approach to credit management.
Since 1997, Daniel has been instrumental to the success and development of MCM and continues to work closely with all divisions of the company ensuring the long term success of the firm.
Daniel is also Director & Owner of Aldercarr Hall Limited which has interests in the hairdressing, spa, hotel and leisure activites.
Having spent nearly 30 years in credit management & business at the highest levels, Daniel is well respected amongst his peers as being a leading figure within credit management.
